GUEST POST: Chae in the Bay

I don't even know who I'm writing for, I don't even know if anyone is reading at all, but welcome to the takeover of "Chae" (pronounced sh-ay). Before I begin, let me clarify that Chae is a nickname dubbed by Emma, an amalgamation of Charmaine and 'bae'. And for all your NORMAL people out there, 'bae' is short for babe apparently. I'm not too sure if it's an Americanism that Emma has decidedly picked up but it's something that I have been ironically saying because I just don't get it!
Other words/phrases that have become frequent in Emma's vocabulary include:
  • Hella, and
  • Shut the f*** up
  • Getting turnt/turnt up
What started as a mere joke to come visit Emma in December during her exchange, I never thought I would actually be here visiting her. Beginning with an amazing initial three days going around SF, with another even amazing 6 days spending Christmas in New York and another three more days in SF eating our weight in food (no really, one day we literally only got out of the house to travel 15mins by bus to get In-n-Out, then to Pho a mere 2 hours later) , my travels around America has been an incredible eye-opener and truly wouldn't have been the same without my one and only 'E-bae'. I only call her that to spite her, no I have not conformed.
To Eeema: Legit though, we only started talking again at the beginning of last year and I can't believe how quickly we became friends again. And now i'm here saying goodbye to one of the best 2 weeks of my life! As much as I want to bash your face in most of the times, you're cute annoying which is inevitably the worst kind so I can't be mad at you forever. I'm gonna miss you saying shut the f up at every ridiculous thing that comes out of my mouth, pulling the blanket away from me during the night and I lay there in a tugging war, your curtain sweeping hair, holding your hand in your coat pocket on cold nights...Here's to new experiences ;) ;), rekindling old friendships and  many more adventures, I LOVE YOU E-BAE!

Now for a photo interlude:

This is me gawking with amazement at everything at Trader Joe's (and yes, that is a jar of crunchy cookie butter in my hand)

This is a huge piece of steak, see size of fork for reference

This is Emma, this is usually Emma 24/7

This is Emma and Kimiko making gingerbread cookies/gingerbread house whilst I sit and tell them what to do (WE USED ZERO ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES except the oven of course AND IT TURNED OUT GREAT, take note that caveman methods do work)

This is also something huge that I ate, a super burrito in Mission

This is how Emma sleeps, with her mouth open, because she can't breathe through her nose during her sleep. Guys, it's no laughing matter

This is Emma making sugar cookies, again WITH NO ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES, ghetto style

This is how the first batch turned out

This is Emma, awww look at that face

This is Emma again

This is my favourite piece at MoMA

Awww, come on, how can you get tired of looking at that face

Oh and do you know what happened for New Years Eve? It didn't happen! I'm sure Emma will fill you in in an upcoming post. Thanks for reading!

I won't throw my pie for you,
Charmaine x
