Lake tahoe was a few weekends ago. It was really cold. Also I dont remember what happened much because nothing really did happen. There was a mix up with the car assignments so I got chucked in with a random car full of people on the drive there.
(But you know what, they're some of the most awesome people I've gotten to meet) The car ride was epitomised by lots of Timber- Pitbull ft Kesha, which was fitting I guess seeing as we were in the middle of the pine forest.
We were already running behind schedule cause Simone had to take photos of the rocks at Twin Peaks for her geo class. So we left SF at around 3pm, and got to the mountain of tahoe at like 7/8. By then it was snowing very hard and our car got turned around because we didnt have snow chains.
So, if we weren't already fed up enough that we were late and behind schedule, we also needed $140 snow chains. Fortunately, there was another shop across the road and they were $90, split across five.
And at least we didn't skid off the snow field and die.
So we got the chains installed, drove up to the cabin, and basically just had a good night.
The second day, heaps of people were thinking of going skiing but they couldnt, since we all got snowed in. The cars had snow all around their doors.
Instead of skiing, we decided to go venture outside to see what it looked like. It was really pretty, and it snowed a lot. Real snow, not that fake kind that blows out from machines at Thredbo. It was so cold that the skin on my fingers started peeling off. We returned to the cabin at the arvo and then partied agaaaain.
The next morning we had to pack up and leave and basically we trashed the place so bad that we had to pay the deposit too. And by we I mean people excluding me () :)
The drive back was fun. We visited a lookout point to take photos, and Simone stopped in the middle of the road and ran down the mountain to take photos of bloody rocks.
I thought she had escaped from her drivers role and abandoned us in the middle of nowhere.
Snow, snow and yellow snow for days?
The day after was the monday of finals week, and I had presentations and an exam on that day but I decided to go with Simone to return the car when we were back at SF cause the car rental was so far away and it was late and she would've gone by herself.
That was pretty fun too, just spending time chilling after a crazy weekend.
I'd throw my pie for you,
Emma
