Prethanksgivingbreak party

Last Friday before Thanksgiving break Erica threw a party.

She made us alcoholic eggnog drinks,
and I beat Greg at beer pong.

And we all lived happily ever after.
The end.

A lot of waiting

Last Saturday I went to the Cosmic Run which is this 5km run at night with an EDM afterparty.
When we got there, there was a maaaassive line (even worse than the one at the grand last time on halloween) for check-in to get numbers and the shirt which comes included the ticket price.
The lines weren't moving at all, we waited for a good hour and a half, and the race was already a whole hour late. When we finally got our things, we started the race.
I dont think we ran more than 2km because there were only 3 checkpoints in the beginning kms.
Each check-point had a powder throwing station and just a bunch of people cupping powder from the ground and chucking it in each other's face. Someone told us that there weren't any checkpoints after the first few kms, so we didnt run the rest after completing all of them.
The afterparty was fun even though I had never heard anything by the artists that were playing that night. (MakJ (?) and Starkillers)

Haight ashbury tattoo and piercing

I got new piercings last week!
They're so cheap here. Altogether with the two earrings and the disinfectant spray it was $55.
I stereotyped the big bald dark-skinned man with hella tattoos all over his body before I got them done.
He was so nice.
After that we went for korean bbq, all you can eat.
I made Gweg eat try out both the small and big intestines. He loved it

Gotham City

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/san-francisco-turns-gotham-city-batkid-article-1.1518454

Last Friday was a really special day because the Make a wish foundation turned the 'whole of SF' into Gotham City for this one little boy. The boy's name was Miles and he's 5, and has/had? leukemia, and his wish was to become Batman for a day. Someone found his wish online and it blew up, and heaps of people started donating to his wish, and within a few weeks, it all happened. It was so extravagant, and I was overwhelmed by the kindness of all these strangers to help this one little boy's wish come true.
Full Schedule

  • 10:30 am: Watch him rescue a damsel in distress, who is tied up across the Hyde Street cable car line | Russian Hill – 1900 block of Hyde Street between Green and Union streets  - Small location – We’re told it is not very spectator-friendly.
  • 11 am: See him catch his nemesis as he attempts to rob a vault | Financial District - 550 Montgomery Street near Clay – Small location – We’re told it is not very spectator-friendly.
  • 12:45 pm: See a villain kidnap Lou Seal and drive off being chased by Miles | Union Square – Good for spectators
  • 1 pm: Watch as Batkid arrives at AT&T Park at 3rd and King side to apprehend the villain and free Lou Seal. | AT&T Park - We’re told this is not very spectator-friendly.
  • 2 pm: Join in a massive celebration at City Hall at 2 pm as SF Mayor Ed Lee gives Miles the key to the city and congratulates him on a job well done. | City Hall – Polk between McAllister and Grove – Best place for spectators

This was his schedule for the day. I joined in at 2pm for the celebration at City Hall, and there were thousands of people there just cheering this little guy on. They showed us videos of all the things he did before 2pm and it was adorable. I'm not sure how conscientious 5 year olds are but Miles looked really lost and confused throughout the whole thing. Nevertheless he must've enjoyed it. Miles rocked up to the party in style in his batmobiles (two lamborghinis with bat signs on them) and when he got on stage he fist pumped and everyone cheered. He really loved to fist pump (idk if thats what he does on a regular basis or because he's Batkid and he can) Also there were helicopters overhead that said "Dreams do come true" and I thought that was a cute little extra touch to things. The head of the Make a wish foundation made a speech, and then the mayor gave the key to the city to Miles, then the Chief of police spoke, and then an FBI guy spoke and it was amazing to see all these people so involved and attached to this boy who would have never have had connections with any of them. Anyway, the head of the Make a wish foundation said how amazing San Francisco is as a city and how amazing San Franciscans are, and I couldnt help but agree. I mean, even Brobama made a vine about it. Thats pretty fuckin awesome.
After that I had acapella practice, then in the arvo, I went for early dinner at a Thai restaurant with my friends at Bangkok garden in Westlake.
Later that night, I went to my friend, Jess', kickback at her old roommates place. I met a lot of people and omg there was a dog called Peanut and it was the calmest most adorable dog. Then they brought me along to a party a few houses down, but when we got there people were already fair turnt.
At around midnight, I had to leave to a 'secret gig' that my friend organised in the middle of Park Merced. Basically, it was a bunch of really talented guitarists and singer/songwriters performing in this empty spot between the houses in Park Merced. My friend told me that he had made it 'secret' and not online because it would generate more publicity that way and attract people to come. He even handmade some invites to give out to people haha. It worked well too cause a fair amount of people showed up. And the music was great, but it got chilly halfway through. Thankfully my friend brought a blanket and I stole it from him.

I'd throw my pie for you,

PS sorry about the quality of the photos, there was no light besides the moonlight and the few candles on the floor which, by the end of the night, were nearly all extinguished anyway

Dolores, dogs and diabetes

Yesterday we went to Dolores park to go check it out. I haven't been to Dolores yet and everyone says its one of the must-go places in San Francisco.
The first thing that I thought when I saw it was that its just a big patch of grass with people drinking and smoking. But I guess thats the whole of San Francisco, cue buildings.
I had fun, meeting new people, just relaxing on the grass. I love the pace of things in this city, everyone is more laidback and there's less hustle and bustle.
Or maybe its because I'm a college student. Although I am busy most of the time, which is weird, I still feel generally more chill than I do at home. Maybe its the general atmosphere.
Just like Hippie Hill, Dolores was filled with people doing random shit. There was an Asian guy who was balancing a blue bowling ball on a thin pole and we were all really impressed until we figured out that the ball was attached to the pole.
I dont know, as I said- lots of random shit happens in parks here hahaha.
After that we dropped off our friend at his house, and when we got inside there were tWO DOGS AND A CAT AND THEY WERE SO CUTE.
Omfg, I am so animal deprived. But they were so adorable.
I took some photos from his balcony because the view was astounding, but the iPhone really does it no justice.
After we said goodbye, we drove to In n Out in Daly City for some gewd fewd  (animal style cheeseburger with animal fries- so. fuhkn. gud) and went back to my friends house to chill.

I'm sorry if my blog posts are no longer entertaining; I type pretty much in the same style and nothing mindblowingly interesting happens anymore to blog about. Its more for me just to keep track of what I do these days... But! if you're still following, stay awesome :)

I'd throw my pie for you,

Food porn

This Saturday, I went with some of my friends to a pop-up architecture installation in Van Ness.
When we got there at around 6, we wandered around for a good half an hour trying to find the place, only to find that the installation was just an empty carpark. Someone told us that they had finished the exhibition a few hours ago and packed up and left.
So we made do and walked around Van Ness.
Turns out that Van Ness is the artsy fartsy suburb, with cute little boutiques and gourmet food.

The Chantal Guillon macarons were so, so good.
They were cheaper than Adriano Zumbo and they tasted so much better.
http://chantalguillon.com/ for all you foodies.

After that I was meant to go to a friends' house but I hadn't eaten, so my friends asked me to have dinner with them since they were catching up with a few highschool peeps from back home.
We had Korean food (which I rarely ever have) and had this dish called Za Zam (or something similar). I really am Chinese- I realised that after I realised how much I miss eating rice.
I miss home cooked food so much ahhhhh.

After that I went over to my friend, Peter's house, and later to Blair's house. We had a jam sesh and it was great. Just a chill Saturday night after Project X the night before.
Too many turnt up nights lately.

I'd throw my pie for you,
