Meeting the parents

Shit went down last semester with my roommates (story's too long to share on this blog tho) so this semester we got a new one! And her name is Taylor. And she's pretty awesome- this time I'm not being forced to write this, unlike similar posts made in the past. She brought me along to have dinner with her mum on Wednesday, to a place called Pizza Orgasmica (luls). Besides the delicious, yet painfully bad titled pizzas, I also enjoyed the fact that they were showing the NBA game and the Olympics at the same time. It was the Warriors v Heat that night and I was overjoyed at the fact that I was there, in front of so many tvs, to watch it. Heat has always been my favourite team (its a childhood, family thing) and so I was rooting for them at the beginning despite the Warriors playing on the opposing side. For those of you who don't know, the Warriors are San Francisco's team. But 10 minutes in, I decided that I couldn't go against the city I love, and so I started rooting for the Warriors instead. The Warriors were behind at first, then we caught up by a lot. And we were about to win, but the scores were sooo close, and in the last 5 seconds, Lebron fucking scores a 3 pointer. And then we lost. I WAS SO FUCKING FRUSTRATED YOU HAVE NO IDEA. But okay, it was a great game nonetheless despite Lebron. God damn it. Why is he alive. I have such a love-hate relationship for him now I don't know what to do.

Finding a placement

For one of my classes this semester, I have to volunteer a few hours per week at a mental health organisation. I was contacting a few different orgs, and one of them responded back saying they had a temporary volunteer opportunity for me over the weekend. It was a dance event for queer youth, and I was asked to help set-up and just help around at the event. So I jumped at the chance, thinking that maybe I could make some connections at the event, pull some strings, and maybe get a permanent volunteer placement with the organisation's mental health clinic. Although they still haven't responded (its been weeks now) it was still a worthwhile experience.

I worked together with these two guys to make the balloon arch and it looked great. I also freaked out disproportionately because of the fact that it looked like the ones in American high school prom movies. I was squealing in my head about it LOL. One of the guys I was working with had visibly deep cuts on his arm which made me so sad to see. So much to say about this topic but I won't delve into it here.

This was the dance floor after we decorated it and set everything up. The theme was fairytale masquerade (I..don't know. Someone told me it was Disney related?) IT WAS SO MAGICAL. Everyone was so fabulous it was cray.

I'd throw my rainbow-crusted pie for you,

Prepare for much cheese

A few weeks ago, my good friend Wendy left to Sydney to study abroad at UTS. We were having a kickback at Kevin and Greg's house, and we decided to skype her since we hadn't talked to her as a big group since she had landed in Sydney. I just wanted to share these photos with you all because look how amazing she is, wrapped in her fucking American flag, drinking Jack daniels (I think?) Anyway the point of this post is that sometimes you meet people for a brief moment in your life but they affect you in ways you don't really expect. OCEANS MAY SEPARATE US BUT THE TURNT IS STILL STRONG.
Someone asked us once who Wendy would be if she was a pokemon,
I don't know if Wendy reads my blog (if so hi weedy!!)
On the surface level you are like a derpy ass wobbuffett,
but on the inside you are definitely a raging moltres.
Miss you heaps :(

One step closer to a heartattack

Much food porn.
I put my $20 gift card for Cheesecake Factory to good use.
Twas great.
I think it's slight-to-near impossible to not gain weight in America
Spent like, a good 20 minutes deciding which cheesecake to get.
Food therapy is a real phenomenon.

Winter Break Posts: Scavenger Hunt

So just before school started, IEEC hosted a scavanger hunt around the city. This included going around the city and taking photos of ourselves in front of things around the city, and checking places/things off of a checklist. Needless to say, because we were awesome, we won. And we each got a $20 card to Cheesecake factory :ooo. Our photo of a piece of artwork with all of the different number plates for each state got us 50 points (one for each state) so we ended up with a high as fuck score.
